MR. JOHN P. LARCHE, C.M. - Director

A renowned ambassador for the mining industry, Mr. Larche is one of the most successful mineral explorationists in Canada today. He was inducted as a member of the Order of Canada in 2002. This citation commends Mr. Larche for having worked tirelessly to advance the mineral exploration and development industry in Canada.

Mr. Larche became involved in the exploration business in 1955 as an independent prospector and contractor and has remained an active explorationist to date. He was elected for 17 consecutive annual terms as President of the Porcupine branch of the Prospectors and Developers Association. Also in the 1970s, Mr. Larche contributed 2 years as a member of the Advisory Committee on the Revision of the Ontario Mining Act and has remained indirectly involved on subsequent Advisory Committees.

In the 1980s Mr. Larche was a co-discoverer of the Hemlo Gold Camp, now one of the most prolific mining camps in the country. He received the Prospector of the Year Award in 1983 and was named Prospector of the Year by the Northern Miner in 1987. He served as President of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada from 1987 to 1989. He was the recipient of the 1997 Paul Harris Fellow Award through the Rotary Club. In 2001, Mr. Larche accepted the position of Honorary Chair of the Discover Abitibi program.

Mr. Larche has served as President of Moneta Porcupine Mines since 1992 and President of Canadian Arrow Mines from 1989 to 2004 and is on the Board of Directors of both of these companies.
